Privacy policy
What you tell Beckon is personal. We keep as little of it as we can, for as short a time as we can.
Beckon is made by Ryoma Services LLC (“we”). This policy covers the Beckon iOS app and this website.
What stays on your phone
Your check-ins, the passages you were given, whether they fit, your reminder time, voice and appearance settings, and your weekly reading and share counts are stored only on your device. We do not have a copy. Deleting the app deletes them.
Beckon has no accounts. We do not ask for your name, email or phone number.
What leaves your phone
- Your check-in text, to choose a passage. When you tap “Find a verse,” the words you wrote and the general moment you picked (for example, “commute”) are sent over an encrypted connection to our server. Our server passes them through Vercel’s AI Gateway to Anthropic’s Claude model, which reads the feeling behind them and writes the one-sentence note above your passage. Nothing is sent with it that identifies you. Our server does not store or log the text. Anthropic processes it under its commercial terms, which do not allow it to train models on that data. This only happens if you chose “Agree and continue” when you first opened Beckon. You can turn it off any time in Settings → Personal notes, and Beckon will then choose passages on your phone instead. It also does that if this step fails.
- Purchases, through Apple and RevenueCat. Subscriptions are handled by Apple. We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous ID created by the app and your purchase records from Apple. It does not receive your check-ins. Apple and RevenueCat each have their own privacy policies.
- What you choose to share. When you share a passage, the message goes through the iOS share sheet to the app and person you choose. We do not see it. The friend’s name you type is used only to write that message and is not saved.
What we do not do
- No advertising, ad tracking or analytics SDKs.
- We do not sell or rent data, and we do not share it for advertising.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
Scripture and the note above it
Scripture in Beckon comes only from the World English Bible, stored in the app. The AI model never writes, changes or quotes scripture. It only helps choose a passage and writes a short note to you.
If you are in danger
If a check-in suggests you may be thinking about harming yourself, Beckon shows the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Beckon does not contact anyone on your behalf. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
Notifications
Daily reminders are scheduled on your phone. You can change or turn them off in Beckon’s settings or in iOS Settings.
Children
Beckon is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices
You can delete everything Beckon stores by deleting the app. Because we do not keep your check-ins or link anything to your identity, there is nothing on our side to look up or delete. If you have a question or request, email privacy@ryoma.services and we will answer.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above. If a change affects what leaves your phone, we will also say so in the app.
